Avicii’s Death Leaves a Hole in the Music World

The world lost an artist today. The Swedish DJ Avicii has passed away in Muscat, Oman earlier today. The reason behind his death is still unknown. His real name is Tim Bergling. Earlier in a blog post, I wrote about the Swedish influence on American music and it was Avicii who was one of the leaders of the movement. He was able to mix original Swedish sounds with American folk styles. He basically invented EDM. Sweden is a leader in the industry and it’s such a shame the world no longer contains him. Yet, it still retains a deep message. This skill is what made me love Kygo’s music in the first place. His sound is very distinctive, mixing island drum rhythms with Swedish sunshine-like sounds. No wonder Kygo…

    The Swedish Takeover of Music

The radio is on and the windows are down. Your friends are sitting in the back seat of the car heading to the beach. You all sing along to the newest hit jam and you are ready to just have fun. The music in your car is upbeat, fresh, and energetic. This music just makes you want to dance the day away. If that’s the case, most likely that song was produced by a Swedish artist. The only thing American about it is the “big star” name attached to the song. But sometimes, the music doesn’t need an American name. Tove Lo, Kygo, and Avicci are Swedish artists who are earning their…
